In order to create, one must also consume

I feel like I’ve had a hard time coming up with blog posts recently. The last two weeks of posts were recycled content that I had already written, but never published. I’ve been ruminating all week on what to write for this one, and come up blank. For someone who had series of blog posts and a variety of one-offs planned, this didn’t make any sense. Why couldn’t I come up with anything to write? I have a few ideas.

  1. I have no slack, and thus my ideas have no time to develop anymore. When I started this blog in December, I had a lot more time on my hands. I was at home and class had just ended for the semester. Now, not only are classes in full swing again, but I also have rotations (a 2/3rds time lab position), track practice, and some serious social relationships. I don’t have time for the content I absorb to marinate, and so I don’t have anything novel to say.
  2. One blog post a week was too much. I started this challenge trying to improve my writing skills. I’ve now borrowed content for three separate weeks out of the 18 weeks I have been blogging. This is not a high-rate per say, but the fact that I felt obligated to borrow previously created content rather than just create OC, which was the purpose of this challenge, suggests that the rate of content creation I’m forcing on myself is too high.
